Apple Pie

- Nine inch pie baking plate.
- Paring knife.
- Pastry dough cutter.
- Waxed paper.
- Rolling pin.
- Ingredients
- Six Granny Smith apples.
- 0.67 to 0.75 cup sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
- 0.25 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 0.50 teaspoon grated lemon peel (lemon zest)
- 2.0 Tablespoons of lemon juice
- Flour, crisco, cold water as per the pastry recipe.
- 1.0 Tablespoons of butter.
- 3.0 Tablespoons of milk
- Operations
- Prepare two pastry crusts a la the pumpkin pie recipe.
- Line the pie pan with one crust.
- Set the other crust aside.
- Peel and core the apples.
- Cut the peeled apples into thin slices
- Arrange the apple slices in the pie pan.
- Mix the sugar and spices.
- Spread the sugar-spice mix on the apples.
- Place pats of butter on top of the sugar and spice.
- Cover the pie with the other crust.
- Cut out decorative holes in the top crust.
- Warm oven to 350 degrees.
- Bake for 40 to 50 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack for an hour.
- Serving, Saving
- Serve after cooling.
- Top with fresh whipped cream.
- After the first evening, store the remaining pie in a pie saver in the refrigerator.
